Week 12

We had out first appointment with Eastside Fetal Maternal Medicine. Beacuse there are two, I am considered a "high risk" pregnancy. Dr. Case does 3D ultrasounds to closely examine the heart and other major organs. We are please to report that A and B look very healthy. Tyler and I are both just amazed at their development. Each week, it is incredible to see their changes and how they're prepping for the outside world.

We also go a guess from Dr. Case on their gender. Our appointment at 18 weeks will confirm if he's right.

Baby A: Sugar and spice and all things nice,
That's what a little girl is made of!

Baby B: Frogs and snails and puppy dog tails,
That's what a little boy is made of!

Developments this week: As I move into the second trimester, A and B shift into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of their systems are fully formed. The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Their fingers will soon begin to open and close, toes will curl, eye muscles will clench and their mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, when I prod at my abdomen, they both squirm in response, although I still am unable to feel either of their movements.
From crown to rump, A and B are each just over 2 inches long and each weighs half an ounce.
They are now the size of a plum!

Here's what's going on in my belly:
