Week 10

This is the beginning of the so-called ‘fetal period’. With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, babies are making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will start working too.)

We had an appointment today with the OBGYN. The twinners were moving around like crazy. The doctor told me that I need to be consuming 3,500 – 4,000 calories a day and that I would gain 50-60 pounds during the pregnancy. Tyler so graciously pointed out that’s more than he weighs. The doc also put me on a strict diet with included eating a pint (yes, that’s right…a whole pint) of ice cream every night! This is to balance nutritional requirements while sleeping. I think is a little jealous and probably wouldn’t mind carrying the twins around for the next 30 weeks just so he could justify eating a pint of ice cream every night!

After the appointment, Tyler texted me, “I am so excited to meet A and B – I already love them both so much”. I couldn’t agree with him more. J

The babies are now each the size of a prune!
