2 Kids & 7 Strollers
As we prepare for our summer vacations to Florida with the Johnson's and Chelan with the Karr's, we decided we needed to invest in some "travel friendly" strollers.

Big Boy
Deacon has out grown his infant car seat and rode in his new convertible seat this morning. He absolutely loves this seat! I think his smile in the pictures says a thousand words.
We went to Kindering this morning as a follow up from Deacon's PT/OT appointment a few weeks ago. Kindering is a "Washington State Early Intervention" program. Swedish had recommended that Deacon go to physical therapy once a week to help with the development of his gross motor skills. Swedish had assessed his gross, fine and cognitive development. In order to participate in this program, Kindering also needed to assess his behavioral development (intensity, activity, persistence and emotionality). He scored "corrected age typical". I was a little disappointed that they would not re-assess his gross skills as that's where he had previously scored the lowest and has been doing really well since the initial assessment. Regardless, we'll be meeting with a therapist once a week to work on his motor development. The gal that will work with Deacon is different than the one that assessed him today. She specifically specializes in motor development. Once we meet with her, we will have a better idea as to how long Deacon will need to continue his PT.

A Special Moment
Another one of the "firsts" in parenthood happened yesterday. I put my arms out to pick up Avi and she reached out for me. The moment was practically over before I realized what she had done. I wished I could have experienced this moment in slow motion.

Good-bye Papasan Swing, Hello Dog Bed
Good-bye papasan swing! While this swing has been a life saver for Avigail's naps, she is getting too big for the chair. She tries to sit forward in hit which makes us nervous that she'll fall right out (even though she's buckled in). And she reaches up and grabs one of the animals on the mobile to stop is from turning around and playing the quiet lullaby. Actually, it's pretty funny as the mobile makes a loud clicking noise when she stops it. The noise doesn't seem to bug her. I think she's just proud of herself for stopping it. Either that, or she knows it's a great way to get our attention. So, the big question is, where will she sleep now? The answer...Tank and Dakota's dog bed.
Deacon never really cared for the swing, so he would take naps on the couch. But, now that they're both rolling over on a consistent basis, that no longer works. I know what you're thinking...why don't they just nap in their cribs? The only answer I have to offer is...look how cute they are in their new beds!

First Official Mother's Day
I never thought waking up at 6:45 a.m. on the weekend would be considered "sleeping in", but it actually is. Upon waking up, Tyler presented me with 4 cards. The first one was from Tank and Dakota. The second from Deacon and the third from Avigail. Avigail's card included an apology..."sorry for the whole foot in the cervix thing last year". And the last card was from Tyler. It said to go hop in the shower and get ready because we were going to have brunch at the Salish lodge. This place is pretty special to us since it's where we got engaged. We have gone up there every year to celebrate our anniversary, but with having the twins it wasn't as easy to just get away.
Side note to the story - Gramma and Grampa Johnson were going to come babysit the kids while we escaped for a couple of hours. Of course I insisted on being with the twins on Mother's Day so we had to cancel with Gramma and Grampa. I think they were a little disappointed as they love spending time with the grand kids. I assured them that they could come over any other morning to watch the kids :-).
We had a great brunch and then headed to Kim and Brad's to celebrate with the Johnson's. One doesn't truly understand the meaning of Mother's Day until you actually are a mother. It will goes down as a another memorable first.

Deacon's First Tooth & Dad's Tattoo
Tyler had gone to Super Genius to get a tattoo of the Gemini symbol. The meaning behind this tattoo is that Gemini is both Tyler and my astrological sign and also means "The Twins".
Anyhow, Deacon managed to stuff my fingers in his mouth. I felt something sharp and my first instinct was that it was a tooth. Once I looked into his mouth, I could see his right middle bottom tooth barely poking through. I texted Tyler the good news and he called back to let me know that he had felt something sharp in his mouth the day before, but when he examined the situation he didn't see anything.
Another milestone...
